Mechanicsville High School is one of four public high schools serving Hanover County. Mechanicsville is located eight miles northeast of Richmond, Virginia. It is part of the Richmond Metropolitan area, which encompasses the city of Richmond and surrounding counties of Henrico, Hanover, and Chesterfield. Traditionally considered a rural community, Mechanicsville has become more urban during the past fourteen years as evidenced by the increased population and new industries that have located in the area.
